Distance Education is a viable mode of Education, it has the potential to provide quality education in diverse range of subjects on cost effective basis. Information and communication technology has catalyzed the delivery system of distance education. In terms of accessibility and enrolment, distance education has done a remarkable job. With the help of collaboration and networking distance education is strengthening globalization of education. We are committed to the creation of a system that would provide the right kind of an atmosphere where new ideas would flourish, so that an inquisitive distance learner finds the right ambience to have a mind that is opened by wonder rather than one that is closed by belief. The factor which put the Directorate of Distance Education on growth trajectory is its focus on academic excellence and innovation by undertaking a multitude of meaningful academic activities.

We have used our Distance Education system to reach trainees in geographically challenging areas like Karnah, Tangdar, Gurez, Leh, Kargil etc.,by envisaging a strong network of fully equipped study-cum- information centers at these places.

The Directorate is conducting research oriented workshops regularly, to devise a methodology with the help of which we can incorporate information and communication technology in our courses. In guidelines from National Assessment and Accreditation Council, the Directorate has established Departmental Internal Quality Assurance Cell, to generate feedback from its learners, for constant up-gradation of the courses. There is a Grievance Redressal Cell in our Directorate which has a fast track mechanism to readdress the grievances of the students.

I impress upon the students to make use of departmental resources like Library, Audio-Visual Devices, Self-Learning Print Material and ICT facilities in the Directorate.

I will extend my whole hearted support and cooperation to the students so that they realize the noble objective of furtherance of knowledge.
